The Latin inscription beneath this Death's Head translates to: 'remember you are mortal.' The more common Latin message on old New England gravestones is Memento Mori, or 'remember Death.' This one is taken from William Hutson's tomb stone dated 1680 in King's Chapel burial ground, Boston.

Design is printed in white on a black, handled mug. All our grave image items are based on photographic images from actual grave sites and are the product of an effort to document and preserve as many old grave sites as possible.
